Test Music Video

I filmed one-minute of test shots for my music video. My main aim was to try out lip-syncing with the talent who will be lip-syncing the whole video, and to try out different types of shots (such as the talent walking towards the camera etc). Overall I think this was successful as I managed to create and edit a music video where the talent lip-synced the lyrics well, with some interesting camera shots included (such as the shot of the talent lying on the ground from above). What I learnt from this test is that for my actual music video, I’ll run through all the lyrics with the talent (especially the more difficult bits) so every shot has perfect lip-syncing and there’s no need to struggle to find shots that lip-sync when some others don’t.

Relating to my idea to reference The Breakfast Club and other 80s films, I also had an aim to at least reference one shot within the test shot music video. I did this successfully with the shot of Charlie punching towards the camera (a scene in The Breakfast Club), as well as the ending wide shot of Charlie punching the air (a very recognisable scene from The Breakfast Club). I also wanted to play around with character-work for my talent as this will be a large part of my music video (as each band member will represent a different 'stereotype' character from The Breakfast Club) which I did with the shots of Charlie posing as he represents the 'athlete' persona.
